ABOUT THE TEACHER: 

 

Mrs. Danyi graduated from Youngstown State University with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education: K-8. She also holds a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education from Youngstown State University.

 

 

ABOUT THE CLASS:        

 

       My philosophy of education is based on the proverb: "I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand." Children learn best by doing and need to be actively engaged in learning. Therefore, the kindergarten program incorporates active exploration and interaction with adults, other children, and materials. Curriculum goals are met through the use of large and small group instruction, math and literacy stations, and learning centers.

 

 

CLASS SCHEDULE:

 

8:00 - 8:30: Arrival, Morning Announcements, Attendance & Lunch Count, Journals

8:30 - 8:50: Opening- calendar, today song, weather, # chart, skill building activities, etc.  

8:50 - 9:00: Read Aloud

9:00 - 10:00: Literacy Block - Reading & Writing

10:00 - 10:30: Literacy / Math Stations (Guided Reading Groups)

10:30 - 11:00: Lunch

11:00 - 11:30: Recess

11:30 - 11:40: Quiet Time

11:40 - 11:55: Enrichment Activities

11:55 - 12:25: Specials*

12:25 - 1:05: Math

1:05 - 1:45: Learning Centers

1:45 - 2:00: Clean-up and Dismissal

 

* Specials:  Monday and Thursday - Physical Education; Tuesday and Friday - Library; Wednesday - Nursery Rhyme Notebooks.

 

Note:  Social Studies, Science, Health, Art, and Music are integrated.
