About the Class
For the last several years, I have been fortunate to focus my teaching efforts on only the subjects of math and science. These two subject areas are closely related and often intersect. With this limited content, I have an opportunity to expand the instruction and academic focus for the benefit of the students. I teach these subjects to my homeroom and Mrs. Jones's homeroom.
The educational focus that is followed in this classroom is in alignment with the Ohio Department of Education 4th grade content standards. A variety of instructional methods are used for the education of our students. Throughout the year, we will continue to address responsibility, self- discipline, and personal growth.
Mrs. Beth Pickens, a resource teacher, is in throughout the day to assist students in their weak areas and provide additional suppport as needed.
About the Teacher
I have been teaching in the Struthers City Schools for 18 years. This is my eleventh year teaching fourth grade. I team teach with Mrs. Pam Jones. I teach math and science to both of our classes.
I graduated from Struthers High School in 1986, Youngstown State University in 1991, and Kent State University in 2003. Athletics is an integral part of who I am. I have been involved with gymnastics, either as a participant or a coach. I have coached my daughter's soccer team, and I have also coached high school cheerleading and track. I was a cheerleader in high school, college, and there are days I feel like I continue to do so in my classroom.
I have been married for 16 years to Bob Knight. We have 2 children. Jarett, 11, is an ACTIVE, intelligent, fifth grader, and Abby, 8, is a high-maintenance, loving princess…with a little bit of hot sauce thrown in. She is in third grade at SES.
