SHS Students Get Inside Look at Local Government

Struthers Civic Day

April 29, 2022

Struthers High School students got an inside look at the functions of local government with a visit to the Mahoning County Courthouse and Struthers City Hall during Civic Day in April.

The students toured the Mahoning County Courthouse and observed a Commissioner meeting. The students noted the concern and comments coming from the community members voicing their opinions as they discussed their experiences with Mayor Catherine Cercone Miller.

“It’s important to get our students involved and understand processes and civic duties at a young age so that they can make a difference in their community,” says Mayor Cercone Miller.

The event was coordinated through Struthers High School Student Council for students in 10th-12th grades.
