More than 150 community members enjoyed a delicious meal and entertainment at the Struthers City Schools Senior Citizen Appreciation Dinner on Thursday, November 17.
The Struthers Middle School show choir, high school show choir, and jazz band performed for the guests as the district’s Board of Education, administrative team, and some students served a holiday meal. Dinner included ham (prepared by Nemenz IGA) accompanied by scalloped potatoes, green beans, rolls and dessert prepared by the school’s foodservice team. They also served coffee to order.
After dinner and the student performances, holiday decor, gift cards, and candy were raffled, with each guest receiving at least one of the prizes. All of the giveaways were generously donated by businesses and community members.
“We are so thankful for this group,” says Superintendent Pete Pirone. “They’ve been long-time supporters of our schools - some of them Struthers alumni themselves - and we like to let them know just how much their support means to us, our students, and our district. And this year, we’re happy that our students were able to be part of this event, sharing the exceptional talent in our schools and engaging with the community.”
